mousepad zombies after closing and can't be killed

I have been running xfce4.4.1 for a while now and last week I noticed
that mousepad was not closing and instead was staying in a state of
zombie. I tried to killall as user and as root but to no avail. Is there
some way to get this fixed. I am using xfce provided by the may
archlinux repos. Thanks for the help and let me know if you need any
other info from me.
