gconfd Errors in /var/log/messages

I'm sure I don't know why they're there. There are  a couple of
possibilities. First off, Thunar can optionally use gconf if it's
available. More to the point, your distro may launch gconfd on login
even if you don't need it. Xubuntu makes use of gconf, even though
it's a pure(ish) Xfce distro.

You can probably make them go away by fixing the underlying permission
issue, or if you truly do not need GConf, uninstalling it through your
distros package management system.

You could also consider asking in a distro specific forum (since if
you didn't install gconf, they must have) or in a Gnome forum
