Excerpt from the dtksh man page:

 NAME

dtksh - shell command language interpreter with access to many X, Xt,
      Xm and CDE functions

 DESCRIPTION
The dtksh utility is a version of the KornShell extended to
      support:

+ Access to many X, Xt and Motif facilities from within a
            shell
            script

         + Fully localized shell scripts

+ Access to the CDE application help system

+ Customization of script-based GUI attributes (such as font
and colors) using the CDE customization tool

+ Response to session-management Save state directives

+ Response to window-management Close directives

+ Access to most of the CDE Desktop Services Message Set

+ Access to many of the CDE Data Typing API functions

+ Access to the CDE Action API functions

Perhaps Wcl (Widget creation library) might be a good starting point?

Bo
