Menu editor crashes when I try to open /usr/lib

Well, that was nasty.  I was able to search /lib but when I tried to 
search /usr/lib:

1  The hour glass appeared and began to turn
2  The launcher configurer crashed
3  I was unable to unhide the panels (I use autohide) on any of the 4 
workspaces.  One workspace was not in use and I was able to get the menu 
with right-click and quit.

Let's not do that again.
