Looking for a screen-saver with a working clock

That is interesting.

It presents me with a puzzle.  I do not have an .xscreensaver folder.  
When I make a change to xscreensaver settings, the change is remembered 
but not, it seems, recorded anywhere in the .config folder.

What mysterious forces are at work here?
