shutdown, reboot, mount and similar

Hopefully I can find some help here:
Shutdown, reboot, automount and so on does not work on my system as a
regular user.

I use "xfce4-session-4.4.2-4.3" in openSuSE 1.3. I also updated my dbus
to version 1.1.3

On one side, I have that version, on the other hand, I also have
configured sudo - nothing helps at all :-(

According what I have found, I can use both, sudo or HAL/dbus - but how
do I find out, which is been used (and failing) or which the
Session-manager will use?
