Lost ability to activate xfce settings window in 4.4b2

Brian,

When I try xfce-setting-show in a terminal as me (user), nothing
happens, and nothing is echoed back on the terminal. When I use the
terminal a su, then run xfce-setting-show, I get the window. So for
some reason (corrupted permissions perhaps?) what once worked for user
now doesn't. The executable is in /usr/local/bin, and I have no problem
running the stand-alone menu-editing command as user from a terminal...
