Yeah, sometimes the daemon behaves very weird, I'm still figuring out
why... But you
can try this: killall notification-daemon-xfce > cd /usr/libexec >
./notification-daemon-xfce. This will start the daemon in a terminal.
(and out warning there, if there anre any) When that's done, you can
try using notify-send in another terminal. Sometimes a similar problem
was solved after restarting my laptop (restart dbus didn't help
somehow).

So, /me is still searing why this happens... ( You can also try trunk,
if you can't i can upload a snapshot if you like)
