A couple of plugin problems (battery and disk performance monitors)

Folks,

I'm running XFCE 4.4rc1 on a Toshiba Satellite 1905-303S laptop (Ubuntu
6.06.1, kernel 2.6.15-27-386). I've installed the battery monitor
(0.4.93) and disk-performance monitor (2.0). I can get the set-up
windows for them when I try to add them to my panel. But when I close
the battery monitor set-up window, the battery monitor disappears from
the panel. When I enter hda1 for the disk to be monitored, it doesn't
register any activity, even though the disk is chunking away. In
addition, if I log out of my Xfce session (now, you ask, why would
anyone want to do that!!??), then return to it, the disk-performance
monitor disappears from the panel. I've tried reinstalling both, but
that doesn't solve the problem, suggesting that I need to apply
something more subtle than a brute force solution.

Any ideas??

With best regards,

Pete
