Here they are configured by default as Ctrl+PgUp and Ctrl+PgDn.

This is a translation problem and should be fixed now. What language are

I just close the windows and when the desktop is empty I press Alt+F4 
and the xfce4-session menu pops-up, give it a try.

Works perfectly here. Is pmount installed? Whenever I plug an external 
HDD via USB, it appears in the thunar filemanager and I just need to 
click on it to see it's contents. Right-click on the icon shows a menu 
with the options to unmount it and to mount it, depends on its current 
state.
