No, I'm against making this optional, it doesn't make sense to add such
an option IMHO. As I said, the policy is now changed and behaves as you
describe, so it should be fine (I don't remember why I changed that in
the first place, probably to debug or test some other change and forgot
to restore the previous behavior...)
