mailwatch plugin doesn't turn gray after mail check

Hello,

I just installed the mailwatch plugin and it works well. When there is 
new mail in my account it shows a golden mail icon and when I click on 
it thunderbird launches and I check my mail.

Once this is done, is the golden mail supposed to turn gray?

Here, even though I checked my mail and there is no mail anymore on the 
server, the golden mail icon remains.
