Thoughts on XFCE 4.3.90: root-tail?

I've been a stubborn holdout on XFCE3, but I gave 4.3.90 a whirl, and
I like it! I can make it look close enough to XFCE3 (Icons for minimized
apps! Yes!) and behave close enought that I might switch.
There are a couple of things I noticed that I would like changed; just
wondering how hard they are:
1) You can bind a key to "Raise Window". In XFCE3, you could have a key
that raised a window if it wasn't on top; otherwise, lower it. Would it be
possible to have a "RaiseLower" action in XFCE4?
2) I use the "root-tail" command to watch my log files on the desktop
background. It doesn't seem to work with 4.3.90. Has something changed
with the way XFCE uses the root window?
3) Similar to (1), I had a key binding that minimized a window if it was
open, but deiconified it if I pressed the key over the icon. Would an
"Iconify/Deiconify" action be hard to implement?
Overall, I'm pretty impressed with 4.3.90. Unfortunately, item (2) is a bit
of a show-stopper. I can live with (1) and (3) if they are hard to change.
Regards,
David.
