Skype problem

Hi,
i'm running Xfce4.0 on a Slackware 10.0. I'm experimenting some troubles
with Skype(version 1.2.0.18): when i launch it from the terminal everithing
is ok, when i launch it via desktop menu or appfinder i hear no ringtones. i
can still hear the voice or talk but i don't hear any ringtone or clicking
sound.

If i check the skype options menu, under hand/headset i see the field
"ringing" greyed out. (if i launch it from terminal is not greyed)

Do you have any suggestion?
