Thanks, Johan. Since posting I also discovered Grisbi and KMyMoney 
(there's a two-part article at http://lwn.net/Articles/150824/ that 
covers both as well as Gnucash). Since I want investing support, that 
appears to rule out HomeBank and Grisbi. And since Gnucash *has* come 
out with Gnome 2 support (something the LWN article complained about), 
it looks like that will be my choice (which makes me wonder if I 
shouldn't move to Gnome altogether ... -- sounds like "resistance is 
futile" :-)
