(Default) Desktop Icon Locations (Beta 2)

Desktop icons are automatically placed in the upper left hand corner of the desktop ... doesn't seem possible to move.Is it possible to change the default or disable ... so icons can be moved anywhere?Is there any documentation available (location) for desktop icons?Thanks for any suggestions.
