Yes, there are the proper user write permissions to ~/.ICEauthority,
/tmp/.xfsm-ICE*, and /tmp/.ICE-unix. (Couldn't write to the latter two
without write permission to the parent directory.)

I guess this is not the case here.

Nothing recent in .xsession-errors (entries in there date from last July. I
moved .ICEauthority to another file name, but that made no difference.
What else should I try?
