/me slaps self on forehead.

I run Slack here, and I just know remember what I think is causing
your icon trouble. Basically, the icon theme improvements introduce a
dependency that Slack 10.1 screws up by thinking it's a Gnome package.
If you don't have gnome installed, install the gnome-icon-theme
package, and your problem should be solved. This is a Slack bug, and
I've already reported it to Pat.
