What does xfsm-dns.c do ?

Hi:

 when I am downloading files, I notice that the Xterm opens very
slowly. Could the cause of the slow opening of the Xterms be due to
the xfsm-dns.c function? What is xfsm-dns.c supposed to do? Is it some
kind of authentication?
