What is the build order of Xfce 4.2.2 from source?

OK thanks to all who replied to my first post. It looks like I was
confusing the instructions for building from stable source with the
subversion instructions. So far I have built from source:
libxfce4mcs
libxfce4util
libxfcegui4
xfce-mcs-manager
xfce4-panel
xfce4-session
xfce4-systray
xfce-utils
xfdesktop
 and xfwm4
I can start xfce and see the mouse and xfce background but it looks like
the panel is crashed. No icons or anything to click on. I am getting this
error about fonts which I also used to get when the installer would crash.
I think I have this font installed though. Any help appreciated.

The program 'xfce4-panel' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was '183'.
  (Details: serial 208 error_code 183 request_code 157 minor_code 8)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)
