Get rid of taskbar?

More than likely, you have it saved in a session, which is getting re-
loaded at each login.

Open a console and use:

pkill xftaskbar4

That should kill the taskbar.

Then logout, being sure to check the "save session for future logins"
box in the dialog.

At your next login, the taskbar should be gone.
