background, panel and RMB menu not loading after Nautilus crashed

due to some weirdness i haven't been able to figure out, nautilus causes
xfdesktop to terminate (not crash) when nautilus takes over the
desktop.  just make sure nautilus isn't running, run xfdesktop, and be
sure to save your session when you log out.
