is it possible to assign a workplace no. to a application?

i like open browsers and office apps in workplace 1, and open email
client in workplace 2, and gaim in workplace 3, and xmms in 4 for
music.

maybe this is useful:

on the panel, when user add a new item, one addtional option - on
which workplace - can be set by the user. and when the icon clicked,
the application's window will appear in the assigned workplace.
