Weather plugin woes

Happy New Year one and all!  (This marks just over a year that I've been  
using Xfce, incidentally. :)

If I start up Xfce without my network card being resolved (all too often),  
the weather plugin holds the panel back from loading for nearly a minute.   
Does this happen to anyone else?

Is this something that can be fixed in the weather plugin, or is something  
in the panel?
