Gdk-ERROR with gnucash under xfce4

I'm fairly certain that composite completely breaks older versions of
Gtk. Nothing that Gnucash folks can do.

Many moons ago, I proposed that someone might have some fun doing a
next iteration of Gtk 1.2. A final stable release as it were, since
it's a popular toolkit (almost as popular as Motif, on Linux and BSD),
that unfortunately is broken six ways to Sunday with regard to changes
in X or late. Of course, true to the (completely reasonable) pattern,
when I couldn't do it, then my proposal did little good.

I hope that one day someone ports Gnucash to Gtk 2.x . . .
