svn gives 400 Bad Request error

if you use squid or another type of (transparent) proxy you might also 
need to tweak your proxy settings to allow the svn specific HTTP 
commands (PROPFIND, REPORT, etc). Read the svn manual on how to do this 
for specific proxies.
