xfterm4 bug?

I've recently started using xfterm4 instead of just xterm and seem to
have a slight bug in the settings. I'm not entirely sure whether it is
application specific though.

Normally I fire it up and all works fine, but when using irssi for my
IRC sessions I find that the backspace doesn't work. I have edited the
preferences and changed the setting from Auto-detect to Control-H which
works fine. Next time I fire up the terminal though the setting seems to
be half gone. I say half gone since it is still listed as Control-H if
you go into the preferences, but I have to unset and reset it to get it
to work.

All my apps are the latest ones from Debian testing, and I have the
os-works sources added for xfce4 (although I've yet to fix the gpg
error).

As an aside, I'm assuming that it isn't possible to get a new xfterm4
session called from the panel to fire up as a new tab in an existing
window. I think I'm going to have to look into a custom menu and a quick
means of reinstating it after an upgrade instead.
