The MCS manager forks itself off to the background when it loads, so you
have to do this:

$ gdb xfce-mcs-manager
[blah blah blah]
(gdb) r --no-daemon-debug
[blah blah blah]
[do something to make it crash]
(gdb) bt
[finally, the useful stuff]
