Note that Gentoo strips binaries before installing by default, so don't
assume that just because someone's running a source-based distro that
they'll have debug symbols.  If you really need to know if someone has
debug symbols in their binary, just tell them to do 'nm <filename>'.  If
a bunch of crap scrolls past, they do, otherwise it'll say 'nm:
<filename>: no symbols'.
