OK thanks all. I'll give it a try tonight if I get a chance.
If the ~/.xfce4 gets replaced in 4.2 with ~/.config/xfce as Brian 
pointed out, will it make much diffs if I copy my current ~/.xfce4 dir 
into ~/.config/xfce ?
