Panel transparency optional?

granted, it's a somewhat moot point for me now, since the compositor as 
too slow for me due to my sucky ATI drivers.  *sigh*  as soon as i have 
enough room for my monitor, i'll be on my desktop again with 
somewhat-accelerated nvidia xrender...
