Which version of xfce4 are you using? If it's 4.1 (CVS)/4.2beta, there
is the session manager, which
has been added for the 4.2 release (which is soon to come) quite some
time ago. But it's not in 4.0.x.
So either you give 4.2beta a try or wait for the official stable
release. The behaviour of the session
manager can be configured via the xfce4 settings manager, it's working
almost like you're used to
from kde or gnome.
