opera/xfce problem ???

Hi

I don't know what "kahakai" is, but it might be possible that it doesn't
implement modality, in which case it's immune to that problem.

If you want a good example of an app that use modality and how it works
well with xfce, check Eclipse/GTK (http://www.eclipse.org) and its
settings/preference dialogs.
