Gvim irritant wrt XFCE

AFAIK this started after i emerged 4.0.5 on my Gentoo system:
whenever i start Gvim -- this includes every e-mail i send -- ,
there is a line:

  (gvim:3398): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path:
  "xfce",

i had also emerged Gtk+-2.4.0 before XFCE, so that might have been the cause,
but re-emerging Vim-core, Vim & Gvim has not suppressed the warning.

yes, i can live with a squeaky chair & a gurgling loo tank too,
but it's nicer to fix them, if possible.  anyone have a suggestion ?
