NAS support?

Hi,

I just viewed the article of planet.debian.net of Martin-Éric Racine "Dreaming 
of an X heaven" where he said that KDE has support of NAS and Gnome not. 
Naturally, as xfce4 user, I asked "and xfce?".

So the question is have xfce got support of NAS (As kde or better)?
Has what Martin-Éric said sense?. Is it convenient to have an integrated NAS 
server in xfce (perhaps as module for scability, I don't know) or it's better 
having NAS as independent of X11 server?

It's just a curiosity.
