Starting "autostart" after panel

I'd like to load my autostart directory after loading the panel, because I have a few things that like to use the system tray I have thereon.  However (I think because the panel is the controlling app for the session), if I put the command after the panel, none of my apps load.  How can I set it up to do that?  (If I must move the system tray to the taskbar, I won't complain a whole lot. :)
