xffm bug: svg thumbnail generation

Indeed. It really bombs xffm. The CVS version is now fixed, although the
fix is not done in the most efficient way. 

To be more efficient, we would need to obtain the .svg width and height
directly from the .svg file. Anybody know how to do that?
