XFCE 4.0.5 problems under Linux Slackware 10.0

this is most likely because the system icon theme isn't set, so gedit is 
failing to open some icons?  toolbar icons?  i dunno.  the UI settings 
plugin in cvs head and xfce_4_0 branch can set the icon theme.

this is a known issue with gtk 2.4.2+.  we already have a fix for this 
in cvs.
