Run in Terminal problem

That gave me two xterm windows - one with a prompt but nothing else, the 
other totally blank.  Closing one makes both go away.

Am I misunderstanding the meaning of run in terminal?  I thought it 
would open a terminal window, then run the command and stay open until 
the command ended - which is when I kill it.
