menu edit problem

I have experienced this before. Try launching xfce from a failsafe
terminal (startxfce4) and right-click for the menu. If you see a
message about a parsing error it could mean that you have illegal
characters like "&" in your menu titles, more than three levels of
navigation, incomplete tags, or a combination of all three. Then just
open your menu.xml in gedit and go through line by line until you
find/fix the error.
