xfce3 window manager config question

Hey man, this is free (also as in free-beer :-) software!
So unless there are more than 2 people (you and myself) requesting having
iconified applications, I'm afraid that that's not going to happen soon...
As you probably know (I posted a note a while ago), by switching from xfwm4 to
(openMotif 2.1.30) mwm, you get the icons... but you lose the multi-workspace
facility (actually a feature removed from Motif 2.0.x by the so-called
openGroup!). Not a very good alternative, is it?
I'm not too sure what you want to do with Xfce3.
If you are happy with just getting rid of the a-la-Microsoft close button
("pure" Motif look and feel as a result), let me know: years ago I hacked the
code for this sole purpose and I'll make it available to you.
