Disk Performance Plugin

Hi,

My system is Mandrake 9.1 (kernel 2.4.21).
This system comes with the "extended disk statistics in /proc/partitions"
patch/feature, conditional on CONFIG_BLK_STATS set when configuring/compiling
the kernel.

I believe this "extended disk statistics" feature is also provided with the
standard 2.4.21 kernel.org (I think this is a back-port from 2.5!?).

If your 2.4 kernel hasn't got these extended disk statistics, you can retrieve
the rsect/wsect data from /proc/stat.
However, I'm not sure you will get these statistics at the partition level - I
mean I'm afraid that the only statistics you can get will be for the whole
disk only.

Unfortunately, the plugin doesn't consider /proc/stat at all, which would be
required for older kernels. That's why still work needs to be done.
Are you interested???

If so, I can provide you with the source code + some information on how to
read /proc/stat

Cheers,
Roger
