problems using update-xfce script

Why don't you do "emerge rsync; export ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"; emerge
xfce4"? (for the non-gentoo-users: fetch newest package db, tell emerge
to also install unstable packages, install the newest xfce4 package with
all modifications need in order to compile on this gentoo box.) In a
gentoo package there shouldn't be any syntax bugs (as your sources seem
to have).

This is one thing wherefore I do use Gentoo.
