command line to change wallpaper

i have xplanet and i want to refresh the wallpaper
every 30min.

running the xfdesktop command line fails to run by
cron and give this error:

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

do you know a command line to refresh the wallpaper
other than xfdesktop?
