Xfce4 and scanner

If you want a gtk2-based scanning solution, I think your only bet is to get
hold of GIMP 1.3.x and recent sane and xsane versions, and compile them
together.

However, you can still use xsane even if the rest of your desktop is gtk2 -
it's just not as pretty  :-)  That's what I do!
