3 questions - desktop / xxfm split windows / pronunciation

Dear All -

have been playing around with xfce recently and like its speed & style. 
  Wonder if anyone could clear up a few confusions tho...

1)	Is it possible to save files etc to the desktop?
2)	How do I get the xxfm file manager to have a split screen (folders on 
one side, files on the other) so that I can more easily drag & drop 
files to move/copy etc?
3)	How the hell do you pronounce 'xfce'??  'ex-eff-see-eee'? 
'ex-er-fiss'?  ;-)
