The config files are found in /etc/X11/xdm.

I think I only touched these two files (from /etc/X11/xdm); Xsetup and 
Xresources. The changes I did were:

* background changed to solid black
* 3d effect on login box removed
* fonts changed to verdana
* most fonts colors changed to the red color of the debian logo
* removed the xconsole

I'm reluctantly posting my files. Note they are quite distro-specific and 
depends on some additional software to be installed (at least xsetroot and 
the verdana font). They will most likely not work at your place...
