Xfterm4 default prompt

You should put in your ~/.Xdefaults (or equivalent file that you read on 
startup of xfce)

xterm*loginShell: true

Their suggestions of setting up bash are correct so far as if you don't 
already have that setup.  I think your problem is not that you don't 
have it setup but that it isn't being loaded.  This is the case when you 
don't pass -ls command to xterm (or use the line in .Xdefaults as I have 
indicated)
