Where to place .xmodmap in xfce4?

  Problem is now solved, thank you all very much. Turns out that there is an
'if' block in .xfce4/xinitrc that looks for the modmap in $HOME. However,
the file name sought in the initrc file is .Xmodmap and on all my systems
running xfce-3.8.18 and earlier the file's named .xmodmap. No wonder it
wasn't found.

  Now to figure out how to put stuff in xfce4-sessions and/or
~/Desktop/Autostart ....
