c'mon -- look at the big picture. Pretty much evrybody will have a
gradual transition to XFce4 -- first installing it and, then when
comfortable with it, uninstalling XFce3. A proportion of those people
will have installed both packages with the same prefix.

They'll be unpleasantly surprised to find something break when they
uninstall XFce4.

using rpms will just cause the problem to appear at installation time
rather than at uninstallation.
